Hi I’m Rebecca. I’m a designer, writer, and traveler. One time over drinks, a mentor called me a thoughtful malcontent. The Field Office started out as an expat blog from Berlin but really it has always been a virtual creative space and kind of a general life philosophy.

My work encompasses painting, drawing, surface design, video, photography, writing, and comics. Basically I really like history, place, and memory.

I’ve collaborated with brands to create prints and patterns inspired by my studio practice as a painter, most recently with Nerida Hansen Textiles.

For over a decade, I’ve worked with gallerists, curators, consultants, and interior designers to place my work in corporate and private collections, hotels, and commercial interiors. I create a limited number of original works each year that are available for purchase.

My projects include a series of video diaries from Berlin and a year-long visual survey of Minnesota’s natural and built landscapes funded by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Most recent is a webcomic about history, A Foreign Country.

My work has also been featured on the Instagram blog, VSCO, Apartment Therapy, and New American Paintings.

I am a regular contributing author for Gestalten, where I write about visual culture.

I’ve been a speaker and visiting artist at Gustavus College and the Santa Fe Art Institute and am a recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the State of Minnesota. As an exhibiting artist, my work has been shown nationally and placed in numerous corporate and private collections.
