Up until this very afternoon, I’ve been convinced that it’s somehow still summer. Sitting down to edit these photos from last week, I’ve had to come to grips with the fact that…it’s not—it’s fall! Look at those leaves turning!
One thing that we wanted to tick off the list before the season got away from us was more time on the water. And Berlin has a lot of boat rental options to make that wish come true—houseboats, rafts, paddle boats, oversized inner tubes with grills in the middle, and also kayaks.
We met up with our tiny group right at the Griebnitzsee S-Bahn station, so it was a breeze to get to. Our guide, Matt, had all kinds of detailed stories about the historic houses and the personalities that roamed their rooms. And as an American in Berlin since before the Wall fell, he had some personal photos and seriously crazy Berlin experiences to share as we took a rest below the Gleinicke Bridge.
Loved the trip back through the dusk.
If you want to go, too, this tour company also leads trips through Kreuzberg at night as well as other day trips in the city center.
