This is summer.

Freiburg, Germany

These fields are just minutes away from my friends’ house. We took a secret way off the main path and rode through grass and flowers along the edge of a meadow with the woods to our right. A ways down was a little foot path into the woods and then—a river and a waterfall. Swimming occurred, glasses were lost and then found again, and a plan hatched to return another day.

Fireflies and crickets joined us in the evening on the deck as well as the sweetest summer smell. Places and days like this that make me wonder if I am crazy to live in the city.
