Hello! The Field Office is a mobile studio for multimedia storytelling lead by me—Rebecca Silus. I am a creative whose work encompasses video, branding, art direction, textile and surface design, and illustration.
ABOUT THE FIELD OFFICE
After graduating with an MFA in visual studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2008, I moved to Berlin where I founded the Field Office. Conceived in the spirit of travel, the studio is about curiosity and how to turn that into compelling projects for clients.
I started my career as a painter, which was going great until I realized that painting wasn’t enough for me. After moving to Berlin (see above), I began exploring new ways of dealing with the things I love, which generally includes history, place, and time. That is when I created the Field Office and with it projects like a series of video diaries about Berlin and most recently a comic about history. I’m also a longtime writer for Gestalten’s books about visual culture. I still paint and recently completed a commission for a large building and construction company.
